The SME Instrument of the European Commission brings 79 of its top innovators to 4YFN at MWC!
News
When talking about public investment on market-creating innovative companies with growth potential and global ambitions, there are two words that come to mind of any European entrepreneur: SME Instrument. The most popular programme for investment and acceleration of the European Commission, now part of the newly created European Innovation Council pilot (EIC), has just celebrated its 3rdbirthday. Already now, it reached 1,4B€ of direct investment in its portfolio of more than 3.000 disruptive fast-growing companies from 36 different countries.
Being part of this 3B€ programme is considered synonymous with success. Companies joining the SME Instrument programme generated on average a 250% increase in turnover and 122% in staff. 6 IPOs, 15 acquisitions and 700M€ of private investment leveraged show the broad support of the common idea that defines the programme as the Champions League of the European innovation ecosystem.
Dr. Bernd Reichert, the man behind the management of the programme, highlights some of the factors for its success: “The selection procedure is key – it is fast but very selective. Once accepted into the programme, a company receives what we call Smart Money: free-equity funding plus top business acceleration services and coaching. This combination allows the beneficiaries to reach the market faster and with higher impact”.
Out of these companies, a total of 79 (!) will be at 4YFN at MWC 2018, check the portfolio, and 12 of them have been already pre-selected for an exclusive pitching event at 4YFN (28th February, 16h), a place to be for investors looking for the next big thing now. Manuel Mendigutía, Programme Manager at the SME Instrument programme, will join the pitching event to share the significant novelties and features of the newly created pilot for the European Innovation Council (EIC). Don’t miss it!
