ERASMUS+ Programme to strengthen Ukrainian Universities: 41 Ukrainian organisations and eight new projects worth EUR 7.5 million will be funded by the EU

Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) announced the selection results of the Call 2017 for the s under European Union ERASMUS+ Programme for Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Action for cooperation projects to reform higher education.

149 projects have been selected, among which 8 projects for 41 organizations from Ukraine including 30 higher education institutions are proposed for EU co-funding within Erasmus+ Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education 2017 (total projects' budget is about Euro 7, 5 mln). Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, National Agency for Higher Education Quality Assurance, Agroosvita and other organizations are among partners.

The projects are focused on agrarian studies, agro-food, smart cities and logistics, integrated PhD in environmental policy, management and technology, artificial implants for bio-engineering, regional studies on Baltic-black sea connections, quality assurance via university-business-government cooperation, implementing modern tools for teaching and learning as well as innovative centers establishment based on the experience exchange with Erasmus+ Programme and Partner Countries Universities.
 
PRECARPATHIAN National University named after Vasyl Stefanyk in cooperation with other Ukrainian organizations and universities from Cyprus, Spain and Poland will make a history by becoming a project coordinator-grant holder in Tempus and Erasmus+ programme. The project team will work on modernization of pedagogical higher education and innovative teaching instruments and includes newcomers universities from Ukraine. Other 7 projects are coordinated by Programme Countries Universities from Europe, like Germany, Italy, Romania, Estonia, Spain, Slovenia. The following Programme and Partner Countries are in the project teams of different partner countries, including Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Estonia, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, the UK and Armenia, Georgia, Israel, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

Background

Capacity Building Activities in Higher (former Tempus) is a specific action within the international dimension of the Erasmus+ Programme with the aim of modernization of higher education via. In the context of 3 Erasmus+ Calls for Proposals published between 2014 and 2017 in total 355 proposals were submitted in partnership with Ukrainian organizations, out of which 24 CBHE projects were selected for funding. Those projects include by 68 Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions with National Academies (science, pedagogical, medical) plus other organizations. The total EU grant allocated to these projects partnerships amounts to over 15 ML Euro.
