This roundtable will debate how sound scientific methods can be used for strategy design and the monitoring & evaluation (M&E) of innovation strategies and will discuss practices from different territories taking into account the politics of scientific advice.
The roundtable will be organised around three building blocks, paying attention to the particular challenges of the territories in the EU's neighbourhood:
- How can science best inform innovation strategies for smart specialisation?
- What is the role of science in the M&E of these strategies?
- Can science be a neutral provider of knowledge in innovation policy?
